JustVanilla gameplay: PvP, raiding and survival rules

Know what JustVanilla allows: PvP and stealing, limits on griefing and portal trapping, client-mod checks and help for unclear rules.

Forested cliffs surrounding water under a pink sky.

Survival without claims or teleport commands

JustVanilla is vanilla-style survival with no pay-to-win, no land claims and no teleportation commands. Plan travel and supplies yourself. A base is not protected by a claim.

Nether-roof travel is optional. Plan your return to the Overworld before setting out: find an existing usable portal, or bring the materials needed to build and light one.

Competitive survival has boundaries

PvP, stealing and griefing are allowed on JustVanilla.

There are still limits: portal trapping and griefing the map for its own sake are prohibited. The examples below summarise the published rules; read the full rules for the remaining limits.

Actions and the boundaries in the current rules
SituationWhat the rules sayBefore acting
Fighting another playerPvP without consent is allowed.Do not portal-trap players or deliberately prevent them from joining or leaving the server.
Taking another player’s items or damaging a buildStealing and griefing are allowed, within the published limits.Griefing the map for its own sake is prohibited. Random lava casts, holes or similar damage, and withers at world spawn are prohibited.
Choosing client tools or resource packsHacking, xray packs and non-fair-play tools are prohibited.Read the Allowed Mods page. A feature used on another server is not automatically allowed here.
Finding an item-duplication trick or exploitable bugItem duplication and exploits are prohibited.Do not use the method just because the client or server permits it technically. Ask staff about uncertainty before trying it.
Using a world seed with an external locatorUsing the seed with external tools to locate structures, bases or ores is prohibited.Do not substitute an external seed tool for ordinary exploration.
Planning a machine or activity that harms server performanceAnything designed to intentionally lag, crash or harm the server is prohibited.A large build is not a reason to ignore the stability rule. Ask about unclear behaviour rather than testing a harmful method.

Check the feature, not just the client name

Use only the mods and clients permitted by the Allowed Mods page. Anything not listed must be approved by management before use. Read the feature limits too: Schematica is listed with its printer function disabled, while Schematica Printer is disallowed.

If your exact feature is unclear, describe it to management and get approval before use. This page does not grant new mod permissions or guarantee that a single-player farm behaves identically here.

Allowed gameplay does not excuse abusive conduct

Keep chat respectful even during PvP or after a loss. The rules prohibit hate speech and extreme harassment, as well as spam, advertising and chat flooding. The full rules also cover prohibited content.

Losing belongings is not by itself proof of cheating or a promise that staff will restore them. If you think a rule was broken, describe what happened and identify the relevant rule; keep account secrets and private locations out of public messages.

Know what you are signing up for

The Overworld, Nether and End never reset, with no exceptions. That does not mean protection from PvP or raiding. Vanilla-style does not mean plugin-free, and a single-player farm tutorial is not a guarantee of identical multiplayer behaviour. For an unclear gameplay rule, ask staff before acting.
